As part of Ashland’s Independent Media Week, IndyCon brings together local creators, artists, writers, and media enthusiasts for a one-day convention celebrating independent journalism and art. Held on the SOU campus, this expo-style event showcases booths and displays from zine makers, podcasters, filmmakers, community radio stations, and more.
Attendees can meet indie comic artists and authors, explore interactive exhibits, and discover how grassroots media is made. Throughout the day there will be live music performances and storytelling sessions, adding a creative flair. Panel discussions and mini-workshops will dive into hot topics like the impact of artificial intelligence on community media and the future of journalism and free expression.
It’s a hands-on opportunity to engage with the region’s DIY media scene – you might sit in on a roundtable with local journalists or learn how to start your own podcast. IndyCon is an all-ages, free event encouraging community members to celebrate and support independent voices in media and the arts.
