The Oregon Nurses Association has reached a tentative agreement with Providence Oregon to end a 26-day strike across eight hospitals, hopefully ending one of the state’s largest healthcare labor disputes.
The deal was agreed upon after seven days of mediation. It includes wage increases, a ratification bonus, and safeguards for nurse-to-patient ratios.
Nurses will need to vote to ratify the agreement. Voting in our area has been extended due to the winter weather. The striking nurses will remain on picket lines until votes are finalized. Once the deal passes they will return to work.
